About me

Hello, my name is Sarah Kang. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University in 2010. I have experience seeing children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. My clinical experience includes treating individuals with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, life transitions, anger management, issues with self-worth, and grief and loss. I help adults who struggle with relationships, perfectionism, self-care, and self-compassion.

Philosophy & Therapeutic Approach

What needs healing, understanding, or exploring shows up in the therapy space. I believe that individuals have the ability to create powerful and long lasting changes that are present in feelings of connection, joy, internal peace, and courage. I enjoy connecting and understanding one’s unique story, hopes, fears, pain, and joys. By creating a safe space and by taking an exploratory stance and understanding where you are stuck, I work collaboratively with you and pay attention to patterns and explore internal mental blocks that prevent you from truly living and experiencing connection. I believe that therapy is hard work, but it is the best kind of work one can do as a form of growth and self-care.

Treatment Modalities

I utilize an integrative approach and combine narrative, cognitive behavioral, emotion focused, and psychodynamic therapy depending on your needs and goals. I incorporate elements of mindfulness to strengthen the mind and body connection.
